have evil connotations they are only showing their ignorance about this type of magick, which is often called "folk magick". Poppets are only as evil as the intent you place upon them with your own emotions.

There is nothing wrong with protecting yourself from someone who is out to hurt you, your family, a friend, etc. In addition, the Original Wiccan Reed does not forbid you from protecting yourself or others. Those that demand you follow the path of light and love, never protecting yourself are those who have never undergone formal training in the "True" wiccan traditions or Paganism. These are all people that have been solitary and self schooled who have decided to intertwine teachings of the "eastern" tradition into the Wiccan practices. Ignore them as they are ignorant as to what "Wicca" really is.

Poppets may be used for healing, prosperity, luck, wisdom, communication skills, compelling someone to keep their promise, and to bind someone from causing harm to another.

You should not use poppets to bend someone's will, such as love spells, or to cause death. You may ask the Lady & Lord to bring your intended mate. This however, may take time as there are many factors involved, including the fact that this may not be the right time for you to meet your "mate". Trust me, a love spell on someone that does not love you, or no longer wishes to be your partner "will" come back to bite you! You may also end up with something you had not bargained for.

METHOD:

If you are a beginner, you should use this in conjunction with candle magick. You should also re-inforce the spell periodically. You can use any type of material to construct the poppets, (they can also be molded using molding wax incorporating the herbs and object links inside the wax as you work with it.) Cut two pieces of cloth in the shape of a human figure, using the color material that corresponds to the type of magick you wish to perform. You may use the "Candle color" chart to decide what color you will need. Embroider the poppet to resemble a male or female doll, then embroider the persons astrological sign on it's back.

Sew the poppet 2/3 of the way, then stuff with cotton batting, the appropriate herbs (refer to herb chart), and if possible nail, hair, saliva, or a photo of the person you are making the poppet to resemble. If all else fails then you should place a piece of paper, a letter, a card or anything else with the persons handwriting on it, inside the poppet.
If you are performing a binding, then place graveyard dust (ground mullein herb) inside the doll.

Sew the poppet up completely at your altar during the correct day, time, and moon phase. You should call on the appropriate deity to aid you in your work. When you are finished sewing up the doll, then "breath" life into it, and name it (the name of the person the spell is intended for), saying "I name you___________" , ask your deity to bring the prescribed action to come to pass. If you are binding for protection it is very important that you are not feeling any anger towards that person. You should either use Cerridwen in her Crone aspect or Hecate. Once again if you are binding, you must use black ribbon, yarn or thread to wrap around the poppet, then tie it up.

Wrap the poppet in the correct color cloth, then place it in a coffin or the appropriate container for that purpose. If you are performing a healing, prosperity, etc. You should keep the doll around to perform a periodic ritual over it until the desired result has come to pass. If appropriate, give the poppet to the person it is intended for.

For Binding do the following:
Chant this as you wrap cord, or black yarn around your doll or figure candle:
[name of victim] I conjure thee
by night your eyes are blindded!
By clay your ears are stopped!
By Earth your mouth is sealed!
By rock your limbs are bound!

After tying the last knot bury the doll in the ground or coffin while chanting:
Twist and tangle [name of victim],
naever to rise up again,
Your eyes are dimmed,
your limbs are bound,
Thus I lay you to rest,
still and silent in the ground!

If you are binding, you should wrap the doll up in black or, then bury it away from your home. You can use a shoe box, then name it a coffin, or a bed. If you are not able to do this, then put it in a container to be used as a coffin then hide it or store it as far away from your home as possible.

CURSES & BINDING

Editors Note: Cursing and binding are to be taken seriously. If the person you are going after is protected what you send out will return to you threefold. There are also other Karmic laws of return which can backlash on you. Make certain that what you are doing is worth the risk to you before you embark upon the dark path.

CANDLE OF BEWITCHMENT

Male or Female Figure Candle, black for binding, red for misfortune.
Martial or Saturnian Incense
Red Wine
Coffin Nails or Pins
Graveyard Dust for binding
Twine or black yarn if binding, red for cursing
Martial or Sabbat Oil
Object links: Hair, nail clippings, photo, handwriting, or something personal that the person has worn and not washed.

NOTE: Invocations and recipes can be found on separate pages under the BOS heading in the index. Have your objects prepared and set up your altar a few days after the Full moon when it begins to wane and continue until the New Moon. The best time is when you know the victim is asleep which is usually in the eaarly morning hours.

Decorate your altar with Pine Cones, Evergreen, Pine clippings, and horns for Cernunnos if you are sending a curse. A cauldron, Graveyard dust, broken stones, pieces of bone, and coffin nails if calling upon the darker aspect of the Goddess. You may use Cerridwen, Cailleach or Morrighan for this operation. Your altar should be in your magick circle and in addition place a triangle of maifestation in the center of the altar. You should have a candleholder or dish in the center of the triangle for the candle. You will be using an Invocation rather than an Evocation during this ritual. Before you begin invocations you should take meditate on the Square of Mars talisman for curses, or the Square of Saturn for binding.

Every night at exactly the same time (if possible) set up your circle, call upon the quarters, the God or Goddess visualising him or her in the proper setting as you invoke. When invoking diety do so widdershins or in a counter clockwise circle rather than clockwise. Picture Cernunnos in a forest clearing, with his eyes glowing red as you invoke him. If binding see the Goddess cloaked in black between two pillars in the center of a graveyard during the winter.

Take your candle in the right hand and anoint with the left starting in the center working up and then down while visualising the your victim and working yourself into a frenzy of rage. See your victim suffering the outcome of your wrath. At the same time you should chant you have written encompassing your intent. Do this for at least 5 minutes as this is the most important part of the spell.

Once you have completed the anointing of the candle place it in the candleholder or dish, and trace a glowing blue circle cross in the air above it with your Atame. Light the Candle and say So Mote It Be! Sit or stand in the circle continuing to visualise as the candle burns. Do this for as long as you are able, the put the candle out with a snuffer. Give the license to depart to the four quarters and deity. Close the circle, and leave it as it is until the end of the 14 day cycle, if possible.
